We have Scotland’s largest life sciences firm, Quintiles.  In addition, West Lothian has been home to Valneva for over 15 years.  They are a specialist vaccine developer.  Our technology firms are world brands such as Sky Television.  They are our largest private sector employer having located to Livingston in 1989.  Calnex, based in the historic town of Linlithgow, are a key developer of technology for the telecoms industry worldwide.  To meet the demand for tomorrow’s skilled workforce, West Lothian College has recently launched a cyber training hub.  Those graduating in technology disciplines will find many job opportunities. 

Our engineering and manufacturing sectors includes firms such as Mitsubishi.  The company has been in West Lothian since 1977 and has a long-term record of investment in new premises, machinery and staff.  They are a market leader in the production of air-source heat pumps.  This also links to the development of the Green economic recovery from 2021.
