Sky welcomes planning approval for new 21,000 m² campus in Livingston
Broadcaster Sky has had planning permission for a new campus in Livingston approved by West Lothian Council.
The project will replace four existing buildings at Kirkton Campus and leased space on the Alba Campus, creating a new site spanning 15 acres and more than 21,000 m².
Sky has been one of West Lothian’s largest employers for more than three decades and they say the expanded campus will provide a future-ready home for the company’s workforce while supporting their long-term growth ambitions in Scotland.
Sophia Ahmad, chief executive of UK Consumer, Sky, said: “Securing planning approval for our Livingston Campus is a significant milestone and a vote of confidence in Scotland. The new campus will create a fantastic workplace for our teams while delivering lasting economic benefits for the local community and wider region."
The investment in Livingston has been described as a “major vote of confidence” and a “major boost” by local representatives.
Gregor Poynton, MP for Livingston said: “Sky's decision to invest in a new Livingston campus is a major vote of confidence in our highly-skilled workforce, our local economy and West Lothian's future as a place to do business.
Angela Constance, MSP for Almond Valley said : "I am delighted to see Sky’s ambitious development in Livingston move forward. This approval represents a major boost for West Lothian, bringing modern, sustainable facilities that will strengthen local employment and enhance opportunities for skills, training and wellbeing.
The project forms part of Sky’s continued presence in Scotland. Recent years have seen relocations of the company’s Glasgow and Dunfermline offices.
GRAHAM has been appointed as principal contractor for the Livingston Campus and will support delivery as the project moves into its next phase of delivery.
