New and growing West Lothian businesses can access gap funding and borrow from £25,000 up to £100,000 through this fund.

Start Up Funding

Want to start and run your own company? We have a wide selection of Start Up Loan packages available in West Lothian.  We work with our partners DSL and Transmit to get the right mix of funding fix to support your business plans.  Available to individuals and businesses who are about to start trading or have started trading in the last 24 months.  Loan amounts are based upon application and attract a loan interest rate from 6%.

Zero Waste Scotland

Funded by the Scottish Government to help businesses reduce costs through improved energy, material resource and/or water efficiency.  The grant can be used for things such as installing solar panels, improving insulation and installing renewable heat technologies.

Unsecured, interest free loans from £1,000 to £100,000 are available.  With opportunities to receive a cashback grant of up to £20,000.

This funding support is available to small and medium sized enterprise (SME), not-for-profit organisations, and charities.

Research and Development Grants

Small, medium and large enterprises may receive funding for research and development, even if the innovation is new only to your business.  The product need not be innovative within a national context.

SMART:Scotland

If your innovation represents a significant technological advance within your industry sector, then you may qualify for a Scottish Government SMART:SCOTLAND grant.  Funding is available for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) which have:

  • Less than 250 employees
  • An annual turnover of less than EUR 50 million; and/or
  • An annual balance sheet total of less than EUR 43 million
