Schuh

With its deep roots in purpose, music, art and self-expression, Schuh has grown and evolved over the last 40 years from a small shop in Edinburgh to a powerful retail brand that always had and always will offer choice, alternative styles, diversity and brilliant shoes.

The multi-award-winning retailer has experienced substantial growth over the years with the heart of its operations based in West Lothian. From its original store on Edinburgh's North Bridge Arcade to its acquirement by Genesco Inc in 2011, the brand has evolved whilst maintaining its core values.

The company’s decision to choose West Lothian as its first head office and distribution centre in 1991 was determined by a number of factors, including the vast accessibility to quality and affordable warehouse and office space, highly efficient transport links to the M8 and access to an excellent local workforce.

These contributing factors offered in the local area have developed over the years and with some support from West Lothian Council, Schuh has navigated a number of new challenges including the expansion of a new distribution centre at J4 Business Park in 2014, which saw the company again choose West Lothian over neighbouring regions.

Schuh currently employs around 3,000 employees throughout their offices, warehouses and 123 stores across the UK, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and the Channel Islands. The future looks very optimistic for the brand with the expansion of its sustainability range and introduction of its premium selection called 'The Edit'.
