The West Lothian Construction Forum has appointed Jamie Taylor as its new chairman.

The Forum is committed to promoting the growth of West Lothian’s construction industry and helping local businesses overcome industry-wide challenges, including difficulty recruiting and rising costs.

Jamie is the Managing Director of two West Lothian-based businesses: roofing firm, Taylor Roofs, and solar and battery installation firm, Taylor Solar. He also hosts his own podcast, Taylor Talks Trades.

In his new role as chairman, Jamie will lead the monthly virtual Forum meetings, which bring together representatives from a variety of local businesses to discuss opportunities within the industry and share resources. Members include West Lothian Council, Invest in West Lothian, Business Gateway West Lothian, the West Lothian Chamber of Commerce, West Lothian College, and a variety of local construction businesses.

With Jamie’s recent appointment, the Forum has launched its updated vision and is accepting applications for new members that can contribute to achieving this.

The vision for the forum can be broken into three pillars: to promote the Construction industry in general, and more specifically, to young people as an exciting career option; to encourage collaboration between West Lothian businesses within the Construction industry; and to support the training and upskilling of existing employees within the Construction industry.

“I have been involved in construction for the last 17 years and have always tried to be an ambassador of the industry, so I am delighted to take on the role of Chairman of the West Lothian Construction Forum,” explained Jamie. “I am passionate about promoting the growth of our industry through openly sharing good practice and upskilling, and believe that with the backing of the members of the forum, we can have a positive impact on the future of West Lothian’s construction industry.”

West Lothian Council’s executive councillor for Economy, Community Empowerment and Wealth Building, Kirsteen Sullivan, said: “I’d like to welcome Jamie to the role as chair of the Construction Forum. He brings with him a great deal of experience in the industry and the group will only benefit from his expertise as the Forum looks to support and grow the construction industry in West Lothian.”
