Job Description:
This post develops forecasting and scenario models that inform strategic decisions on visitor dispersal, spend, sustainability, and satisfaction. It partners with SMPI on Tourism Economy Model, incrementality, and policy models to quantify economic impact. The Data Scientist will collaborate with the Data Engineer and Analysts to ensure clean inputs and accessible outputs. translate complex modelling outputs into clear, actionable narratives for executives and industry audiences, and engage It external partners to extend modelling capacity when required. Experience and Qualifications:
Strong background in statistics, or data science, with applied experience in forecasting and scenario modelling. Proven ability to translate technical outputs into clear business narratives for senior stakeholders. Proficiency in Python/R and relevant modelling libraries; experience with version control and reproducibility standards. Collaborative approach, working effectively with engineers, analysts, and non teams. Experience operationalising models into production environments. Exposure to policy modelling and impact evaluation frameworks. technical Ability to independently explore new analytical approaches, test hypotheses, and innovate with available technologies, fostering a test and continuous improvement and operational efficiency. learn culture that drives Comfort engaging external partners and managing commissioned work.
