Job Description:
The Community Development Worker/s will play an important role in shaping climate action in the region. Working alongside the Senior Development Worker and the Communications Worker, the Community Development Worker will engage the public, support WLCAN members and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders.
Experience and Qualifications:
Experience of community learning and development, preferably in relation to climate
change or environmental issues
● Experience in successfully encouraging recruitment and support of volunteers
● Knowledge of the community organisations in West Lothian and the structures that
exist at community level including Community Planning Partnerships and the nature of
work across the third and voluntary sector.
● Knowledge of climate change environmental and social issues and the challenges that this
poses to communities throughout West Lothian
● Knowledge and passion in at least two of the following areas - Community Energy, Youth
Empowerment, Biodiversity, Food Growing, Active Travel, or Circular Economy.
● A good track record in generating new ideas and innovative approaches to community
development and empowerment.
● Strong digital communication skills including capacity to use Google applications, online
training and networking, and Canva, as well as social media platforms.
