Job Description:
The Plumber carries out responsive and planned plumbing repairs, maintenance and
installation work across the Council’s housing and non-housing properties.
The postholder diagnoses faults, completes work safely and to the required standard, keeps
accurate job records and provides a professional service to customers. Work may be
undertaken independently or as part of a repairs or refurbishment team.
Principal Accountabilities and Key Tasks
Plumbing repairs and installation
Diagnose and repair faults and leaks in domestic cold and hot water systems, waste
pipework, sanitary fittings, showers and associated plumbing installations.
Install, replace and maintain bathroom sanitary ware
Experience and Qualifications:
A recognised plumbing apprenticeship and relevant trade qualification, or an equivalent
qualification and demonstrable experience in plumbing repair and installation.
Experience of diagnosing and completing domestic plumbing repairs and installations to a
good standard.
Knowledge of safe working practices and the regulations, standards and codes of practice
relevant to the work assigned.
Ability to maintain accurate job records and communicate effectively with customers,
colleagues and supervisors.
A full valid driving licence
