Job Description:
Job Scope The Venue Assistant works as part of a team, under the direction of the Venue Co-ordinator to agreed work procedures. The job requires excellent customer care skills. It involves working in a busy environment dealing with customers efficiently and politely. The post holder will communicate with staff from Culture and Sport, Education, councillors, members of the public, performers, companies and agents and other external bodies. Principal Accountabilities/Key Tasks • Preparing and serving high-quality alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages • Using a till to take payments • Checking customers identification and age verification • Maintaining a clean and organised bar area, including quickly responding to spills and other health and safety hazards • Monitoring and replenishing stock levels as needed • Provide catering service for weddings and events as well as food service for café • Clearing tables, wiping surfaces and operating the glasswasher to ensure ample glassware is available • Attend team meetings and contact meetings • Be proactive in promoting the Linlithgow Burgh Halls and the programme and facilities and the work of Culture & Sport • To carry out any other such duties as may be required by the Venue Co-ordinator
Experience and Qualifications:
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge Essential • Understanding of good customer care practice • Good interpersonal skills and be able to deal effectively with people from all backgrounds • Ability to communicate effectively • Attention to detail • Ability to multitask and remain organised during a busy period • Experience of working with the public • Enjoy working with others and being able to work as part of a team • Calm demeanour to deal with demanding customers Desirable • Experience of dealing with health and safety issues • Previous training in health and safety, risk assessment, manual handling, customer care and food hygiene. Other Essential Information • Willingness to work a flexible work pattern including evenings and weekends
