Award winning local business Spring Solutions has created new jobs in the local area with support from West Lothian Council’s Economic Development team.
Spring Solutions is a supply chain management expert that specialises in the provision of hardware, chemicals, and consumables for the aerospace sector. Since its establishment in 2016 by Jonathan Ward, John Ward and Ronnie Garvey, the business has grown steadily and won lucrative creative contracts with key players right across the sector.
They moved into a new office facility in 2022 at Blackburn Road in Bathgate with a brand-new warehouse, inspection area and kit room to accommodate its expansion.
The business is known for its innovation and ability to seize opportunities. In its early days, it set new records in achieving its accreditations which are required to support the aerospace industry, including ISO 9001 2005 and AS9 120 RV B.
In 2022, the business was named the Best Aerospace Supply Chain Management Solutions Provider, and in 2024 was named Supplier of the Year.
To support the growth of Spring Solutions, West Lothian Council’s Economic Development team provided funding through a Growth Assistance Project. This fund supports the development of West Lothian-based businesses by improving competitiveness and creating high-value jobs in a sustainable and inclusive way. Through this, the business was able to create five new high-value jobs in October 2023 and two new high-value jobs in November 2024.
The management team also took part in a fully-funded CMI recognised Leadership Bootcamp in January 2025. This three-day workshop, delivered by Jeff Lockhart from the St Andrews Management Centre, focuses on exploring and mastering the skills that take leadership to the next level. This ensured the business has a strong management team in place that are equipped to support the continued growth of the business. This was possible through the Expert Help Programme, which is part-funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The support received has allowed Spring Solutions to grow their team and improve the skills and knowledge of their existing employees.
Spring Solutions Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Ward said, “Many thanks to David and the team within West Lothian Council’s Economic Development team, as well as the Expert Help Programme and UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
“To be able to rely on support from this excellent local organisation has been pivotal in allowing us to manage the incredible growth trajectory that Spring Solutions are on.
“Between the support with facilities, growing the team, and the wonderful leadership programme excellently hosted by Jeff and Rick, we were able to grow and develop our team and service some new opportunities that we may otherwise not have been able to. It lifts some of the burden to know we have the support of these organisations.
“We hope we can continue to play our part in paying this forward. Not only is it a boost to the local economy by bringing significant and exciting business to the area, but we are committed to continuing this cycle by engaging with local supply chain and local SMEs to ensure that the excellent culture of thriving businesses we have here in West Lothian continues to develop.
“Thank you once again to David and the team, keep up the excellent work.”
West Lothian’s Executive Councillor for Economy, Community Empowerment and Wealth Building Susan Manion said: “It’s fantastic to see Bathgate’s Spring Solutions continuing to grow and create more high-quality jobs here in West Lothian.
“What they have achieved in under 10 years is remarkable, and it’s great to see that support from our Economic Development team has helped with their progress.”
